Peak Formosa is the highest peak in the Tsitsikamma mountin range, in the Garden Route. reaching the summet of Peak Formosa is a bucket list favourite and must do! It contributes to the Baviaanskloof Mega Reserve situated in the Eastern Cape.
It is about 1675m above sea level. But reaching the top is so rewarding! You are rewarded by the most amazing coastal view you have ever seen. Looking outwards you will experience the Western Cape's glorious and famous coastline, but if you look backwards you are rewarded with the view of the Eastern Cape's apple fields and vast dams. Peak Formosa is the separation line between the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape. On your way up you actually step over the painted line on a rock saying that you have crossed into the Western or Eastern Cape.
This is such a great family experience for everyone to do! But remember to bring your swimming costumes! After your hike a wll deserves swim in the dam which is perfectly situated at the base of the hike and a safe way for all ages to cool off. This is such a fun way to spend the day!
