KLOOFING • aBSEILING • cANOE hIRE
After kitting up with wetsuits and floatation jackets, we start off with leisurely walk through indigenous forest down to the river. We then follow a rudimentary path, boulder hopping and swimming our way down a majestic canyon with cliffs towering up above. For those who dare there are a number of optional jumps off the rocks into the water, with the highest being 11½ m. Bring a costume and shoes or sandals that can get wet (shoe hire available).
Abseiling is all about using a rope and other specialised equipment to descend a cliff. The serene Kaaimans Gorge holds one of the most beautiful abseil sights you will find. You have a chance to do two 45m abseils right next to a magnificent waterfall.
You need not have abseiled before, however it is not for the faint-hearted! It is also important to remember not to wear slippery shoes.
Eden Adventures has a range of single, double and triple canoes and kayaks with which to explore the area. Routes vary according to your choice of hourly, half day or full day hire. The most popular route is to pack a picnic and some swimming gear and head to the Touw River Rock pools (40mins of easy paddling and 40mins of walking on a boardwalk will get you to the rock pools).
Return via the same way.
There is no Wi-Fi in the forest, but you will find a better connection.
“I just want to let everyone know how special this trip is, our guide Steve was brilliant and the journey down the river was simply "gorge"ous. Highly recommended”
